CFL’s aka Energy Saving Light aka Compact Fluorescent Light (Lamp)…
OK, I have a problem with this “Go Green” alternative. Think about it… Yes, it saves money and energy usage, this is a good thing… BUT and this is a very HUUUGGGEEEE BUT… it contains mercury!!! Hello, anyone ever hear of mercury poisoning? We are filling our landfills with light bulbs now that contain trace amounts of mercury. Not bad if you have only a few, but this is not the case. Not to mention, how many people do you know follow the advice of wrapping the used light bulb in two plastic sealed bags before disposing of (most people are not even aware and follow blindly media campaigns and anything that anyone tells them it is so without even studying to see if it is actually true or not). If we look at human nature, not very many at all. And this raises another problem with these light bulbs as well. If you DO use two plastic Ziploc bags, this is even more plastic in the landfills, something that is not even remotely biodegradable. Either way you look at it, thousands upon thousands of these lightbulbs placed in our landfills will leech mercury into the earth, poisoning everything and everyone. Someone tell me just how this product can be classified as a “GO GREEN” product, for I just do not see it at all…
